Before any works begin on your home or business we want to make sure you have a design you love. We create bespoke sample boards in a style and colour of your choosing, these are revised until the final design is agreed, this is the exact design that is applied to your surface.
Next, we need to make sure your floor is suitable for the long-term success of an epoxy resin floor, a floor is only as good as the sub straight it is laid on. Whether laying on concrete or beams we need to make sure the floor is free from movement, cracks and is level. We will take care of all the preparation works ensuring your epoxy resin floor design goes on flawlessly and has no risk of cracking in the future.
After prepping and priming the floor we are ready to pour the epoxy resin design coat, this is when the magic happens and the first time you get to see your floor or surface come to life.
This is an extremely important step and while there are companies out there who will not seal their epoxy resin designs you will find that epoxy resin scratches and loses vibrancy over time without it. We seal our floors with a polyurethane sealer of between 0.75-1mm (Vinyl flooring is sealed to around 0.25mm) to ensure a hard-wearing floor or surface which lasts.
Our Epoxy Resins are self-levelling which means they have to be poured on a level surface.
Concrete Screed: Any type of concrete floor is perfectly fine for an Epoxy Resin floor, however, we will need to make sure the floor is level with no latency, if required we will use a grinder to achieve this. Next, we check for any moisture or damp issues and if required apply a liquid DPM (Damp Proof Membrane) after that we are ready to apply liquid screed and start the process of applying the Epoxy Resin.
Tile Floors: Providing the tile floor is fixed soundly and there is no damage to any tiles we can apply a liquid screed to create a surface suitable for Epoxy Resin, however, we would always try to remove the tile floor first if possible.
Floorboards/Beams: We would first need to check for any flex in the boards but if they were sound with minimal movement we can fix ply to the floor to create a substrate and then follow the process of pouring liquid screed prior to our Epoxy Resin install.

This client were looking for the wow factor in their reception area. They wanted a specific Blue to tie into their logo but also something that people would remember.
Iconic surfaces delivered on that brief!
First, we used a floor grinder to take off the current surface topping then applied a self-leveling cement screed and liquid DPM to give a flat surface to work on and moisture protection.
Then it was on with the Epoxy base and design coats.
This floor will be finished with an anti-slip Matt protective top coat so it stays looking great even with heavy foot traffic.

For this project the client were not happy with their existing tile floor, the floor always felt cold underfoot and was difficult to keep clean.
They'd looked at various flooring options but all required the removal of the existing tiles which meant removing the kitchen units as well an expensive and messy job!.
Then they were recommended Iconic Surfaces and one of our design team met with the clients to discuss the benefits of an epoxy resin kitchen floor. These included;
- Epoxy resin floors are warm underfoot (no more socks needed in the Kitchen)
- Epoxy resin floors are seamless and easy to keep clean (no annoying grout lines)

Our Epoxy Resin floors are always sealed with a polyurethane top coat, that's the same sealer used on popular vinyl LVT flooring, however whereas vinyl may have up to 0.25mm of poly, our floors will have between 0.75-1mm of hard wearing poly top coat. That means are floors last far longer, and the great thing., with an epoxy resin floor if the top coat does start to look scuffed over the years it's a simple process to sand back the poly coat and re-seal making your floor good as new. An epoxy resin floor can last you a lifetime if looked after correctly.
Epoxy Resin is a great heat-conductor, with or without underfloor heating a resin floor feels warm underfoot. Say goodbye to your cold tile floors and hello to warm and inviting epoxy resin flooring.
Epoxy Resin floors are totally seamless, that means no more grout lines for dirt and bacteria to gather. Our epoxy resin flooring is hypoallergenic and easy to keep clean with a quick pass of the mop.
